Eyelid Lift
As you age, your eyelids stretch, and the muscles supporting them weaken. As a result, excess fat may gather above and below your eyelids, causing sagging eyebrows, drooping upper lids and bags under your eyes. Eyelid lifts (blepharoplasty) improves the appearance of these areas and gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested and alert. In upper eyelid surgery, our surgeons first mark the individual lines and creases of the lids in order to keep the scars as invisible as possible along these natural folds. The incision is made, and excess fat, muscle, and loose skin are removed. Fine sutures are used to close the incisions, thereby minimizing the visibility of any scar. In lower eyelid surgery, our surgeons make the incision in an inconspicuous site along the lash line and smile creases of the lower lid. Sutures are used to resupport and elevate the lower lide and midface. Excess fat is removed and fat is sculpted to create a youthful natural look to the lid. The bag lines are released and fat is transposed to the upper midface to blend the lid with the cheek. Any excess skin is removed and the incision is closed with fine sutures. The result is an impressive yet natural restoration of your lids to their youthful state. There is minimal swelling and minimal bruising for 7-10 days and recovery is usually mild and well tolerated.
